What to know about Spring Training

When does Spring Training start?
Spring Training games begin usually in late February and conclude approximately March 30. The schedule varies from year to year and if you have any questions please call one of our travel specialist at 1-800-892-7687 for assistance.

Can we purchase game tickets without purchasing the travel packages?
No. We do not sell games tickets by themselves. For information on how to purchase Spring Training game tickets and when they go on sale, please contact the team directly.

What happens if a game is rained out?
In the event a game is cancelled due to rain, the home team will provide you with information regarding ticket refunds. No refund for any unused portion of the travel package will be made.

Is airfare included in the package?
With most of our packages, airfare is not included. However, we do offer a limited amount of discounted fares between many of our team’s home cities and Spring Training cities during March. We also have an air department to assist you with all your air travel requests.

Can I upgrade my rental car?
Yes. Car category upgrades are available at a nominal rate.

When can I expect to receive my travel documents, game tickets and merchandise?
Approximately two weeks prior to your departure, you will receive your itinerary and game tickets via email.  Your custom merchandise will be shipped to you approximately two weeks prior to your departure.

When is the game schedule finalized?
Spring Training games often change more frequently than regular season games. Game times and locations can change at any time without much advanced notice. Please check our website for updated schedule information or call one of our travel specialist at 1-800-892-7687 for assistance.

How long is the pre-game Brunch or post-game Dinner?
Typically, the event generally lasts for approximately two hours. Your itinerary will specify the time and location for any scheduled event.

I may want to drive my own car to Spring Training, can the rental car be deducted from the package?
Yes. You may select any package and choose not to include the rental car. We will deduct the cost of the car from your total package price.

Which players will be attending the pre-game Brunch or post-game Dinner?
We have had a variety of players, including those on the forty-man roster, attend the events in the past. Players who appear at the events are determined by the team and we do not receive the list in advance.

What is the dress code for pre-game Brunch or post-game Dinner?
The majority of fans will be attending a game the same day as the event so casual, neat, and comfortable attire is recommended.

What if none of the package dates work with my schedule? Can I customize a Spring Training package for me?
Yes. We can customize a package just for you to accommodate your particular schedule and needs.

Before You Leave

What travel documents are required for US Citizens?
All U.S. citizens must have a passport valid through their length of stay in the United Kingdom.

When can I expect to receive my travel documents, game tickets and merchandise?
Approximately two to three weeks prior to your departure, you will receive two parcels. One parcel will contain your London Series custom quarter zip pullover. The second parcel will contain your game tickets, Oyster Card and guest credential. Your London Pass will be delivered to you electronically. (The Bunt Package does not include an Oyster Card, London Pass or guest credential.)

Can I change my London Series 2023 reservation?
Any requested change to an existing reservation is subject to availability. Price increases and fees may apply.

If I need to cancel my London Series Travel Package, what are the penalties?
•Cancellations made 120 or more days prior to departure - 25% of total package price
•Cancellations made 60 - 119 days prior to departure – 50% of total package price
•Cancellations made 59 or fewer days prior to departure – Non-refundable

Is there a suggested dress code?
Casual, comfortable attire is suggested. London is a great walking city and fans can expect a fair amount of walking during your vacation. Be sure to pack comfortable, sturdy shoes. A light jacket or slicker is recommended and layers are always a good idea.

Where is the Welcome to London Party taking place?
The London Series Welcome to London Party will take place on Friday, June 23, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane Hotel. Guests will be treated to a wide selection of delectable bites and a hosted bar. If your package includes the London Series Welcome Party, you will be required to wear your guest credential for admission.

What is the dress code for the party?
Casual, team attire is encouraged!

General London Information

What is the average June weather like in London?
Average June daytime temperatures in London average in the low 70’s. Evening temperatures dip into the mid 50’s.

What is the recommended form of payment for purchases in London?
Credit and debit (bank) cards – especially Visa and Mastercard – are widely accepted in London's restaurants, bars, cafes and shops. There is no real need to bring paper money with you. You can use plastic for transportation, including the tube, taxis and buses. There are ATM's at the airport and most hotels, if you decide you need some cash when you arrive.

Consider contacting your credit card bank to let them know you will be traveling internationally. Your bank can outline their overseas fees if any, along with exchange rates, etc.

What is VAT?
VAT stands for Value Added Tax. It is similar to a sales tax - the current VAT rate is 20%. The VAT is included on all your package components.

Hotel Occupancy in London
Most hotels have a maximum limit of two adults in a room. Some hotels will allow up to 2 children under the age of 17. Please call for family rates and availability.

Will my cell phone work in the United Kingdom?
We recommend you contact your service provider for International calling plans and fees. Consider the Whatsapp app for Wifi calling and text messaging.

Is it possible to arrange sightseeing or tours when I arrive in London?
Yes. Please contact the concierge at your hotel to arrange sightseeing, tours, restaurant reservations, etc.

How do I use my Visitor Oyster Card?
A Visitor Oyster card with a 45£ value is included with select London Series travel packages
. The Visitor Oyster card is the most flexible way of traveling around London as it covers your transport needs with one electronic ticket. It's simple and easy to use, and is activated upon entry at a ticket barrier located in the stations. All you need to do is tap in on the circular yellow card reader, and then tap out again when you have finished your journey.

The Visitor Oyster card can be used on all London Transport networks, including:

What is the London Pass®?
A 4-day London Pass is included with select London Series travel packages
. The London Pass is a digital sightseeing pass that gives you access to 90+ attractions in the city. Your 4-day London Pass is valid for consecutive days, not 24-hour periods, so start early in the day to make the most of all the incredible London attractions at your fingertips. Included with your 4-day London Pass is a one day “Hop-On, Hop-Off Bus Tour”. For more information and a list of attractions, visit The London Pass.

London Stadium and Game Information

Where are the games?
The games will take place at London Stadium. London Stadium is located within Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and is located close to the Capital’s best public transportation links.

When are the games?
Saturday, June 24th - First Pitch is scheduled for 6:10pm local London time
Sunday, June 25th - First Pitch is scheduled for 3:10pm local London time

When do the gates open at London Stadium for the games?
The gates open three (3) hours before first pitch.

What are the team’s home side of the field?
The Cardinals are the Home team for both games and will occupy the 1st Base side of the field. The Cubs are the Visitors and will occupy the 3rd Base side of the field.

What time are the games likely to finish?
On average a baseball game takes around three hours, but as the game is not dictated by time, it could take longer.

Can I bring bags into the stadium?
We have not yet been advised of the official London Series bag policy. We will update this section when the final guidelines have been announced. We do know there will be security checks in place at the stadium and all bags will be subject to a search. You can also check the London Series website www.mlb.com/london-series closer to the start of the series for up-to-date information on their bag policy.

Can I bring a stroller into the stadium?
Yes, there are dedicated areas available to store strollers. Please speak with the stewards / volunteer team and they can assist.

How do I get to London Stadium?

Is there parking available at the stadium?
There will be no general parking at the stadium.

What if the game is canceled?
Any official announcements about canceled games will be available on https://www.mlb.com/london-series

Can I store my wheelchair at the stadium when I do not require it?
Yes, there are dedicated areas available to store wheelchairs. Please speak with the stewards / volunteer team and they can assist.

Is there additional support for people with disabilities?
If any fans, with disabilities, require additional assistance there is an accessibility hut opposite the Aquatic Centre, on the main concourse, on the approach to London Stadium.

What about Regular Season Road Trips

Is airfare included in the package?
With most of our packages, airfare is not included. However, we do offer a limited amount of discounted fares between the team’s home city and the road trip destination.

Cancellation and Refund policy
What is your Cancellation and Refund policy?
Cancellation and refund policies vary, with penalties increasing as the departure date approaches. If a cancellation occurs, SMUSA will assess the following penalties:
Cancellations made 120 or more days prior to departure = $100.00 per person
Cancellations made 60-119 days prior to departure = 25% of total package price
Cancellations made 30-59 days prior to departure = 50% of total package price
Cancellations made 29 or fewer days prior to departure is non-refundable
